Dementia to reach almost one million Australians by 2050

Associate Professor Mark Yates is Director of Clinical Studies at Deakin University and a practicing Geriatrician at Ballarat Health Services in the Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service. As the former President of the Australian Medical Association, Victoria, Associate Professor Yates is at the forefront of Australia’s dementia research, diagnosis and care.With a projection of 900,000 people being diagnosed with dementia by 2050, Edwina Williams  sat down with Associate Professor Yates at his home south of Ballarat, to gain a better understanding of the disease.
